Craftsman Chainsaw in-tank fuel filter and filter line Can I have the instructions on how to replace the in-tank fuel filter and fuel filter and filter line replacement. fuel filter craftsman gas chainsawI understand that you want to replace the line on your chainsaw. While you are waiting for an expert to respond, I have attached some helpful links below that may provide information to assist you with your question. Have a great day!I am sending you an image showing how the fuel lines are routed on your trimmer.
Make a hook from a clean piece of wire and fish the small line and the fuel pick up out of the gas tank. Disconnect the fuel pickup and pull the fuel line out of the tank through the hole in the side.
When you install the new fuel lines, leave about the same amount of slack in the small fuel line as the original had. The large fuel line goes into the fuel tank 1 1/2-2 inches.
Cut the end of the new fuel lines at an angle to make them easier to push through the holes in the tank. Pull the fuel lines into the tank with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Leave about 3-4 inches of slack on the small fuel line that attaches to the fuel filter. Fish the line out through the hole in the tank and install the fuel filter on it. Drop the line and filter into the tank. The problem I'm having is getting the new larger line to go into the tank that attaches to the little plastic coupler. I can't get the new one in even with it cut at an angle like it came. I tried even putting a little bit of oil around the outside of the line to see if it'd hopefully slip through easier; it will not go in any more than where it was cut at a slant. I have needle nose pliers but they can't into the tank opening enough to reach, let alone still be able to open. I can supply pictures if you'd like to show what i'm talking about.Hello Noah. I understand the problem that you are having with the insertion of that fuel line into the tank. That fuel line is designed to fit very tightly to prevent gas from leaking out of that opening. Significant force will be needed to push the proper size line through that hole. You may need to loosen or remove the carburetor to get room to properly push that fuel line in. That may help you force the line into the hole.
